How Much Does Breast Reduction Cost?

Breast reduction surgery is a procedure designed to decrease the size of breasts. Sometimes referred to as mammoplasty, breast reduction procedure involves removing excess skin or fatty tissues from the breasts, making them attractive and proportional to the body contours.

The most common patients of mammoplasty are women who face difficulties whenever they try to fit their breasts into clothes or bras. It is not only done for cosmetic purposes, but it can also be performed to solve the Gynecomastia problem in men.

Although it can be done on both men and women, it doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone automatically qualifies for breast reduction surgery. The surgeon will likely turn you down if you have a heart problem or diabetes. Being in a healthy state and having fully developed breasts are the two prerequisites for people considering this surgery.

It’s been over two decades since the first breast reduction surgery was performed. Today, this type of surgery is one of the most common cosmetic procedures done on both men and women.

To complete the procedure, your surgeon will need between 90 minutes and four hours at most, and it is performed under general anesthesia. There are two techniques used to perform this surgery, that is the incision method and the liposuction technique.

Incision technique: your surgeon will make tiny incisions in the area around the areola, and through those cuts, the unwanted excess skin is loosened, detached, and removed from the breasts. After that, the nipple is then repositioned and aligned to suit the expectations of the patient. This technique is recommended for women who are not breastfeeding.

Liposuction technique: small incisions are made underneath the breasts, and the surgeon will use a medical tube known as a cannula to drain out the unwanted fatty tissues. This approach doesn’t affect the patients’ breastfeeding patterns, and this implies that it can be done by women after pregnancy.

Recovery takes two to six weeks, and you are advised to avoid any strenuous exercise for six weeks after the surgery.

Just like any other plastic surgery procedure, mammoplasty is no exception when it comes to side effects possibilities. Heavy bleeding, scarring, bruising, and infection are the most common risks that are associated with breast reduction surgery. If done by an inexperienced surgeon, there may be variations in the symmetry, size or shape of the breasts. This is why we emphasize that whenever you are considering having any surgery, cosmetic or medical, it will serve you well if you do thorough research about the institution you will have the operation at.

With that said, let's now take a look at how much you will need to fork out to have the surgery. The prices differ, and they are based on the geographical location. You'd be surprised by the difference if you compare the cost of breast reduction surgery in Turkey, United States, United Kingdom and in the United Arab Emirates.

Cost in Turkey

On average, the cost of breast reduction in Turkey is €1800 - €4000. This is a reasonable and fairly cheap price considering that it covers medical tests, surgeon fees, post-surgery garments, anesthesia fees, meds to be used after the surgery and the clinic or surgical facility fee.

Although the breast reduction price is this low in Turkey, this is not an indication of low-quality medical facilities. In fact, the country is home to some of the world’s best international hospitals that use advanced equipment.

Cost in the U.S. A

According to the 2018 statistics revealed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of breast reduction surgery is $5,680. This price is for the aesthetic patients only, and unlike the Turkish price, it does not include anesthesia, operating room facilities, or other related expenses.

The surgeon’s fee for mammoplasty differs in the United States since it is based on his or her experience.

Cost in the U.K.

In the U.K., the average cost of mammoplasty surgery can be around £6,500. However, this amount does not include additional consultations and another follow-up care.

Cost in the U.A.E

In the U.A.E., there is no fixed price for breast reduction surgery. It varies from one patient to the other. But to be on the safe side, prepare something like 35,000 AED which is something like $9,500.
