Step 1. The doctor begins by marking the patient’s donor and bald areas. When doing this, the doctor considers that one might lose the hair in the future, so, the idea here is to make sure that the hair lasts for several years and that the procedure results are as natural as they come.
Step 2. In this step, the doctor gives the patient a local anesthetic on donor areas then harvests hair grafts using a micro motor machine. The harvested hair follicles are then collected carefully, placed in serum with cold temperature until the process of implantation.
If the donor area has a perfect hair density, 4500 to 5000 hair grafts are harvested and in such a case, the patient has to expect the desired results after 8 to 12 months. In cases where the patient has a big bald area, we prefer to make the operation in two or three stages —each stage will have a difference of 6 months.
Step 3. Channels are opened in the area where the hair will be implanted. The experienced Dr. Nagihan Yalçunkaya usually takes a leading role in this step. This step is done carefully because it also determines the outcome of the result. Channels are opened in the same direction of the original hair so as to allow hair to grow up in 45 degrees on the scalp.
